Nuraldin is a historic personality of the northern region. The real name of this hero of peasant-Sanyasi rebellion was Nur Uddin Baker Jung. After the Sanyasi Rebellion, he established his capital at Fulchowki of Mithapukur and declared himself as an independent Nawab. It is learnt that while fighting with the soldiers of the Company at Mogolhat of Lalmonirhat in 1787, he was fatally injured and died after reaching Phulchowki. To immortalize his memory, Nuraldin Open Stage has been set up at Mogolhat..
Pateswari Temple is situated at Rasulpur mouza under Patgram Municipality of Lalmonirhat district. This temple is very sacred to the people of Hindu community. According to them, Mahadeva was roaming around the world having the dead body of chaste Devi Parbati on his shoulder. This time Narayan was dividing her dead body with his Sudarshan Chakra. The places of worship were set up where the parts of her body fell. The Hindu community believes that a part of her shoulder fell at Pateshwari where the temple is situated now. This temple was founded in about 1904 A.D. Its length and breadth are equal i. e. 26 feet 1 inch.
Among the Zamindars of Tush Bhandar, Romoni Mohan Roy was the most powerful. He built this temple in memory of his late mother Bhagavati Devi Chowdhurani, Because of reconstruction the temple has lost its original colour. The present yellow colour makes it appear as a temple of modern times. The temple was built in 1881 A.D. The location of this temple is at Ghanashayam mouza of Thush Bhandar union under Kaliganj upazilla of Lalmonirhat district.
This Zamindar Palace is situated at Kakina Mouza of Kakina union under Kaliganj upazilla of Lalmonirhat district. Through the appointment as Chowdhury in 1687 A.D., Ramnarayan initiated the Zamindarship of Kakina. The most famous Zamindar of kakina was Mohima Ranjan Roy (1854-1999 A.D.) he was associated with many philanthropic activities including eatablishment of including Rangpur Carmichael College and Rangpur Zilla School, Besides, he established an English Medium School inside the Zamindar’s palace. At present, all the buildings have been destroyed except a dilapidated 3-storied building called `Hawa Bhaban’. Most of the areas of the Zamindar Palace are now used by Uttar Bangla College. The bed-room of the Queen has been reconstructed and named `North Bengal Centre for Public Meeting’ and is now being used as an auditorium. This philanthropic Zamindar of Kakina, Mahimaranjan Roy was patron of education in Rangpur region. Apart from setting up Rangpur Zilla School, Carmichael College, Rangpur Municipality, he helped to publish magazine by the Poet Sheikh Fazlal Karim from Kakina. At present, his palace accommodates Kakina Uttar Bangla College.
Tinbigha Corridor is situated near Panbari border under Kuchlibari union of Lalmonirhat district. This corridor is used to enter into the enclaves of Bangladesh named Dahagram and Angurpata. During the partition in 1947, some parts of Bangladesh became enclaves within the territory of India. These are two such enclaves. The Tinbigha corridor is the only communication between these two enclaves and the main land. After the India-Mujib agreement of 1974, a series of meetings were held at Foreign Ministers’ level. At last an understanding was reached in 2001 which the corridor was kept open for use by the Bangladeshis. Now, the corridor remains open form 6-30 am to 6-30 pm.
Sheikh Fazlal karim was born at kakina of Lalmonirhat district in 1883 A.D. He enjoyed the patronization of the then King of Kakina Mohima Ranjan Roy and with the patronization he set up a printing press at Kakina. He published a magazine from this press entitled ‘‘Basana’’ Many of his poems were published in may famous magazines of kolkata. His remarkable literary works include Saral Padyabikas ratnaprodip, Thrishna, Paritran, Vagnabina etc. Some of his poems became so famous that people are fond reciting them even today. This great poet died on 28 September 1936. For his extraordinary contribution to literature he was awarded with the title ‘‘Kabbaratnakar Nitibhushan’’. The grave ot this poet is beside his house at Kakina. At present his bedroom has been transformed into a small museum with many small things that he used during his life-time.
This museum has been established with the personal initiative. A young man named Ashrafuzzaman Mondal Sabuz has established this museum rich in antiquities. Besides working as a teacher, collecting antiquities is his main hobby. He has established his museum at his paternal home in Lalmonirhat. With a proper patronization, this personal museum can be upgraded into a district museum, Various antiques and many original manuscripts of books are preserved in this museum.
